Rationale: The noradrenaline/norepinephrine transporter (NET) mediates noradrenaline uptake. NET-KO mice exhibit reduced binding of radiolabelled desipramine (a noradrenaline re-uptake inhibitor that binds NET) to brain membranes (Fig. 1d). Further, the authors state in the text that synaptosomes from cerebral cortex and cerebellum of NET-KO mice show no radiolabelled noradrenaline uptake, which could be inhibited by noradrenaline re-uptake inhibitors (data not shown). Cyclic voltammetry from tissue slices revealed that noradrenaline clearance after electrical stimulation is affected in NET-KO mice (Fig. 2c) and quantitative in vivo microdialysis showed that KO animals exhibit higher levels of extracellular noradrenaline levels (Fig. 2d). 25/01/2018 Pim - Because the paper shows uptake after stimulation (=release) the term 'neurotransmitter reuptake (GO:0098810)' rather than uptake could be selected.. Experimental description: Characterization of NET-/- mice
