Rationale: Preembedding immuno-EM reveals the presence of immunoreactivityfor MARCKS in some axons and axon terminals in the cingulate cortex. MARCKS is myristoylated and interacts additionally via a cluster of basic residues through electrostatic interactions with the plasma membrane (myristoyl-electrostatic switch). Phosphorylation of MARCKS induces translocation of the protein to the cytosol (Reference 1). MARCKS is detected both, in membrane and soluble fractions (Reference 2).
